Have you ever wondered why product pushers are always coming up with testimonials for products that never work? Take for instance, Murad acne cream. There are hundreds of sites dedicated to making clear that this product does not work and is a waste of money. But on the flip side Murad has just as much that state the product works. So who are you to believe? When I was comparing these sites and looking for holes in their claims, I was reminded of how Hollywood does the same things with movies. We have all been there, we’ve seen a movie and thought one way or another, and the very next day we see commercials pumping up the excitement level and pushing the “best movie all summer” or “#1 comedy”.
Well guess what? It’s the only comedy this year so far. So that title means nothing. And that is what I believe these product pushers are doing. They are playing on words and ideas, making us believe that what we are internalizing are the very things we are hearing, when in fact they are not. I can not say that I have ever tried Murad, but from what I have read, their claims are such, that they are making us believe this is the number one comedy in America, and maybe it is. Depending on what your definition of comedy, is?

Instead of trying expensive products like Murad, which may or may not work, why don’t you try going to your fridge or pantry first? When you grand parents or great grand parents were young what do you think they did to take care of skin problems? They used what was available and with pretty great success. I am sure there are cases that modern medicines are needed, but for those of us with mild to medium cases of acne I think that some of these home remedies just might be what we are looking for. You can use things like olive oil, sugar, milk, lemon juice and a variety of fruits in combination or alone depending on what your skins specific needs are.
For example if you are looking to make a good scrub, take some brown sugar and mix it with milk until it makes a thick paste. Put it onto your skin and let sit for at least 10 minutes. Then take a warm wash cloth and water to get it off. You also get the added benefit of if it drips into your mouth that will actually be a treat. Then you can follow up with a cotton ball dipped into lemon juice for acne issues or milk for dry skin. All in just a few minutes with a few things from your own kitchen.

One of the things that I think that is important in an acne regime is to use a moisturizer. This sounds at first as something that is counter productive to what you are trying to accomplish. You are putting moisture onto skin that is producing too much oil. But actually many of the acne products strip all the oils out of your skin. Then the skin will react by producing more oil. This would actually cause the opposite effect that you are hoping to achieve. Of course you need to get one that is specifically made for oily skin. Otherwise you might end up with more acne problems. Also you need one with a good sunscreen.
This will help with skin cancer, sun damage and wrinkles now or later in life. And you need to use the moisturizer at least twice a day. This way your skin always have the moisture it needs and gets use to not producing too much oil. It will have enough and will assist you in controlling and preventing more acne issues. Plus later in life if you start using a moisturizer early enough it will help with wrinkles and aging skin problems that plague most of us in our later years.

Do you think what you put in your mouth can effect the look and feel of your skin? Or even if you have blemishes or not? When I was in high school there was a family that had severe acne issues. I don’t know if what they ate effected it or not, but I doubt that they ate so much in the way of greasy foods, fried foods and chocolate to account for their condition.
I ate a lot of that kind of junk growing up and I didn’t seem to notice any kind of effect on my skin or the amount of acne issues that I had. I think that if I ate that way now I would have other kinds of issues, but I highly doubt that acne would be a factor of all my bad food choices. I think that some things like eating whole grains, choosing a variety of colors and various fruits and veges and drinking more water do effect your overall health and therefore the look of your skin, but I don’t think eating dessert once in a while will give you adult acne. I think you are ok to endue that once in a while without the threat of having irreversible damage to your skin.
